Carlo Savio, already the owner of the historic SAVIO pharmacy in Recco (GENOA), which still operates today, founded the production plant called SAVIO National Chemical Institute. His goal was to produce the preparations developed in his pharmacy on an industrial scale.
Emilio Stefanelli, together with his friend and business partner Antonio Fogli acquired the production plant located in Ronco Scrivia. They chose to preserve the name “SAVIO”, which would later become the Group’s flagship brand over time. Immediately following the acquisition, an investment and expansion program was launched, marking the beginning of a new phase of growth and innovation.
As part of a corporate restructuring process aimed at enhancing the value and performance of the SAVIO Group, Savio Industrial was established to contain the group's production plants. Among these, the Ronco Scrivia plant specializes in the production of Class III medical devices, while the Pavia site specializes in the production of pharmaceuticals.
An investment program was launched to expand the production of medical devices into international markets, both within the EU and beyond. As part of this global growth strategy, the Ronco Scrivia site obtained also the ANVISA certification for the Brazilian market.
